Projects

To date, Law 77/2006 funded a total of 361 projects, for a total amount of 29.574.010,17 euros.

The progress of requests for funding, the monitoring of projects and the analysis of the state of art, demonstrate how the Law, thanks also to the constant refinement and revision of the tools and procedures for implementation and reporting, has generally contributed to:

  • implement effectively of the 1972 Convention;
  • encourage the drafting and updating of Management Plans;
  • raise the capacity building of the subjects that operate on the UNESCO Sites;
  • experiment new governance models;
  • support the establishment of stable partnerships in the territories;
  • promote the culture of strategic planning;raise progressively the design quality;
  • improve the spending capacity of the Sites benefiting from funding.

Cultural and Natural Sites

On the 10 of April 2008, the first Decree for the allocation of resources under the Law was issued.

To date, 306 projects have been funded, on chapter 7305, for an amount of 27,000,104.94 euros; among these funds, more than 5 million were allocated to the preparation and updating of the Management Plans of the Italian UNESCO Sites.

On chapter 1442, on the other hand, 46 projects were funded for an amount € 1,714,232.23 euros.

Intangible Cultural Heritage Elements

On the 17 of January 2019, the first Decree for the allocation of resources under the Law in favor of the Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was issued.
To date, 9 projects have been funded, on chapter 7305, for an amount of 859,673.00 euros.
